Avinash in the earth of tango

It’s been so long since I’ve interviewed Avinash in this blog (Actually the blog was called damia.com.ar in that time). In that moment I’ve just don’t even imagine having Avinash visiting our country or even Latin America.

However some years later that is a fact. The 17th of march Avinash will be landing Buenos Aires bringing with him his contagious passion and love for Web Analytics. The day after he will be presenting at a very exclusive event sponsored by Google.

If you don’t know Avinash, something difficult if you work in Internet (and/or had a chat with me ;-) ), he is one of the most passionated and experienced people in the Web Analytics Industry (you know I don’t like the word Guru). His blog Occam’s Razor is full of information based on Avinash’s experience with a very pragmatic view and he is always open to interact with his readers. He amazingly generated a very symmetric communication with his readers.

Avinash is also the author of the best selling book “Web Analtyics and hour a day” which has already translated into English, Korean, Portuguese, Chinese and soon will be available in Japanese and Russian.

He is also the Analytics Evangelist for Google, position from which help people with different level of expertise having a deeper understanding of their online projects changing the “metrics” view by the “understanding” view (PALM by Avinash: People Against Lonely Metrics).

I’m a believer that there is not smarter people, not even Gurus but just people that uses his passion for something (Like Web Analytics) as the fuel for making wonderful things in a very contagious way, that’s is why I’m so glad to having Avinash down here.

Welcome Avinash!!!

Buenos Aires has its second Search Engine Marketing Expo (SMX Buenos Aires 2008)

Finally we had the SMX Buenos Aires 2008 and in my opinions was pretty good.

The Analytics presentation was well balanced, a consultant (me), a Provider (Enrique Quevedo from Google) and a Client (Maria Soledad Santich from Telefónica de Argentina). I fount Soledad’s presentation very usefull since she explained how was the Analytics Implementing process in her company in a very transparent way. Issues, deviations, pursuit results, etc.

Analytics PAnel - Soledad, Enrique and Juan

With the Google Team

Guille (Google), Juan and Rita (Google)

The best

Even when I couldn´t attend all the presentations I wish, I attended some very good ones,

- Julio Fernandez with Online Reputation Management examples.

- Andres Snitcofsky with his very funny SEM (and instructive) presentation.

- German Herebia, talked about new media and give some ideas to present developers (If German tells you that you can get good money develping the mentioned type of apps, I recommend you going in that direction).

- Gustavo Saients and Alejandro Perez (I was a little late so I missed Robert Jacksons´ presentation) explained in a very simple way how the Search Engines Algorithms work in general.

- Martín Enriquez and his Online Reputation Management examples, very clear

The worst

- The security was poor making possible that not just one, but two laptos where stolen (I´m really sorry Justo and Diego).

- Some panelist presentations were sales presentations…come on some people paid a lot of money not to hear you selling your products, but to learn how to improve their services and make money by their self. Sorry guys, wrong place, wrong people….

I would also like to thanks Tomy Lorsch and Rafael Fernández Tamames the invitations to participate in the Analytics Panel.

SMX lands again in Buenos Aires, with a Web Analytics Panel!

The SMX Event is landing in Buenos Aires in its second edition. SMX is one of the most important “Search” events in the world, so if you work in something related, not just with “Search” but with Internet, you must attend it.This event is gonna be a very particular one, since it includes a the Web Analytics panel (yes, I said in Buenos Aires and Analytics in the same phrase :-) ) and I have the honor of being one of the three Web Analytics Panelists. The other two are Enrique Quevedo (from Google Analytics) and María Soledad Santich (Content and SVAs Internet- Marketing Speedy from Telefonica de Argentina).

The first GAAC lands on Hispanic Latam

Last week I’ve received an email from Enrique Quevedo (the Google Analytics Guy in Latam) officially announcing that Intellignos (Company that I co-founded) was confirmed as Google Analytics Authorized Consultant, becoming the first (and only by now) GAAC in Hispanic Latam.

I am so glad because it is not only a great challenge for Intellignos, but also demonstrate the interest of Google Analytics in the Latin American Market.

So, let’s stop talking and let’s rock!

About the Google Authorized Consultant Program?

Google Analytics Authorized Consultant ProgramThis is the Google’s explanation: Instead of charging hefty fees for Google Analytics and pushing you into a one-size-fits-all services plan, we’d rather provide Google Analytics and your product support free of charge and give you the option to purchase a tailored professional services package directly from one of our partners. This way, you can select the partner and the plan that makes the most sense for your business and your objectives.

Partner services include, but are not limited to:

* a la carte incident consultation
* Phone and internet-chat support
* General or customized Installation and configuration
* Report data analysis
* Personalized training
* Walk through of Urchin reports
* Custom scripting
* Custom report templating
* Custom log file configuration
* Custom architecture integration (Software Only)

GAAC training in Buenos Aires

Yesterday (thursday 5th of June) was the first GAAC (Google Analytics Authorized Consultant) training in Buenos Aires. The event was planned by the untiring Enrique Quevedo. Enrique, who was also the speaker, has the non-minor task of developing the product through the Latam Region.

The training lasted two days, the first day was focused on Business while the second was 100% technical. The training went from general to specific topics, and was both technical and pragmatic making very simple to incorporate pretty difficult concepts.

Congratulations Enrique, Great initiative!!!

Enrique is at my right (I’m with the unforgetable “tag my ass” t-shirt), and behind Enrique is Carolina from Intellignos.
